A Notary Public is an official of integrity appointed by state government typically by the secretary of state to serve the public as an impartial witness in performing a variety of official fraud-deterrent acts related to the signing of important documents.
These official acts are called notarizations, or notarial acts. Notaries are publicly commissioned as “ministerial” officials, meaning that they are expected to follow written rules without the exercise of significant personal discretion, as would otherwise be the case with a “judicial” official.
A Notary’s duty is to screen the signers of important documents for their true identity, their willingness to sign without duress or intimidation, and their awareness of the contents of the document or transaction. Some notarizations also require the Notary to put the signer under an oath, declaring under penalty of perjury that the information contained in a document is true and correct. Property deeds, wills and powers of attorney are examples of documents that commonly require a Notary.
A Loan Signing Agent or NSA is a Notary who has special training to handle loan document signings. Title companies and signing services hire NSAs to deliver loan documents to borrowers, oversee the signing and return the documents.

How far in advance must I schedule an appointment for general notary services?
We ask that you schedule an appointment 48 hours in advance, however we do our best to accommodate last minute and same day appointments. Note: Last minute appointments will have a surcharge applied to them.
How far in advance must I schedule a Loan Signing Appointment?
Loan Signings must be scheduled NO LATER than 24 hours in advance.
How far in advance do I need to schedule a Fingerprinting appointment?
Large groups who are in need of fingerprinting services must schedule an appointment at least 48 hours in advance. Individuals can make an appointment the same day.
What if my fingerprints get rejected?
If your fingerprints get rejected, we will redo the fingerprints free of charge if it’s the fingerprint technician’s fault. However, a travel fee may still apply. If you receive a letter from the state stating your prints are of poor quality, you may take the letter to any police station that does fingerprints to have them redone free of charge.
What if I have to cancel my appointment?
- All loan signing appointments must be canceled within 48 hours of the scheduled appointment. Appointments that are made within 24 hours and are cancelled will be charged the entire fee.
- Fingerprinting appointments will also be charged the entire fee if cancelled within 24 hours or the same day of the appointment.
- General mobile notary appointments made the same day must be cancelled within fours of the scheduled appointment. There is 50% surcharge of any appointment that is cancelled after four hours. If the appointment is re-scheduled for a later date, there will be no surcharge.

Loan signing services, along with general mobile notary services, I-9 verifications and Apostille Services are all available nationwide. Fingerprinting services are currently available in southern Ohio only. Additional fees may apply if the notary has to travel to a remote or rural area or areas that are out of the normal service area.
How much do you charge for your services?

When is payment do and what forms of payment do you accept?
- Payment for same day services are due when service is rendered and can be paid in advance via the website. We accept all major credit cards, and upon request will send you a Paypal invoice for customers requesting loan signings and fingerprinting services.
- Additional Fees may apply for inclement weather, excessive long lines, last minute or rushed deliveries and requests for services.
All Loans signings must be requested at least 24-48 hrs in advance. General mobile notary appointments can be requested the same day however we ask that appointments be made at least fours in advance of actual requested time.
What if one of your loan signing agents or mobile notaries makes a mistake?
Any errors or omissions incurred by one of our professionals will be corrected free of charge.
What is a mobile notary and why do you charge more than my banks notary?
- A mobile notary is someone who is certified to perform notarial acts and travels to the client.
- The mobile notary fee is largely based on the travel fee, which is why it is more expensive than a notary that you find at a bank or another venue.
An apostille is a certificate that is used to authenticate the origin of a public document. An apostille is required and can only be used for countries that are members of the Hague Convention of 1961.
What if my country is not apart of the Hague Convention? How do I authenticate my documents then?
- If your country is not a member of the Hague Convention 1961, then your documents must be authenticated by the United States Embassy in Washington DC.

Where do I go to find out if my country is a member of the Hague Convention?

This is where you can find a list of the current countries who are apart of the convention and those who are not.
I am a loan signing agent, how can I join your team?
- Click the Partner with Us tab on the homepage and you will be given instructions on how to become apart of TheGoToNotary family.
I hire employees remotely, how can you help me?
- You may designate an authorized representative to fill out form I-9 on behalf of your company, including personnel officers, for men, agents, or notary public. The Department of Homeland Security does not require the authorized representative to have specific agreements or documentation for form I-9 process. If an authorized representative fills our form I-9 on your behalf, you are still liable for any violations in connection with the form or the verification process.
- The travel fee will still be assessed if the notary is unable to notarize the documents.
